Poseidon is a silk scarf in 100% pure silk (14 momme), approx. 33 × 147 cm, with hand-rolled edges. The motif is based on a Roman mosaic from the House of Poseidon in Zeugma; the scarf is made in Antakya, Türkiye. It is delivered in the Atelier Anatole archive box with the «Scholar’s Index» provenance card, a separate curator’s note and a microfibre suede pouch.

About the motif

The mosaic dates from the 2nd to 3rd century AD and shows Poseidon in a golden chariot drawn by fish-tailed hippocampi, mythical sea horses. Trident in hand, he appears as ruler of the seas. The scene combines maritime symbolism with the classical iconography of power.
